About SP Doghouse
SP Doghouse is a family-owned, multi-brand dog daycare system with 20+ locations. We bring distinct dog care brands together with a shared focus on daycare, boarding, and the relationships between dogs and their people.
About the role
We are looking for a General Manager in Houston who can lead the daily operation of a dog daycare and boarding business. This role brings together people leadership, customer experience, operational discipline, and a genuine commitment to dog care.
You should be as comfortable coaching a team member or speaking with a dog parent as you are reviewing schedules, costs, and business performance. You will work with our broader operations team while taking ownership of the details that make a location run well.
What you will do
- Lead day-to-day daycare and boarding operations, with attention to dog wellbeing, cleanliness, and consistent care routines.
- Recruit, train, schedule, and coach the team. Set clear expectations and build a culture of accountability and care.
- Maintain staffing plans that support the dogs in our care and the needs of the business.
- Build relationships with dog parents, respond thoughtfully to questions, and handle concerns with clear communication.
- Monitor business performance, including revenue, staffing costs, attendance, retention, and customer feedback.
- Keep operating procedures, incident reporting, and team training organized and current.
- Partner with regional and central operations colleagues to share what is working and address problems early.
What we are looking for
- Experience leading a team and managing a customer-facing operation. Pet care, hospitality, retail, or another service business can be relevant.
- A hands-on leadership style: willing to work alongside the team, give useful feedback, and follow through.
- Sound judgment around dog care and safety, with the ability to stay calm when the day changes.
- Comfort with staffing, schedules, basic financial reporting, and the tradeoffs involved in running a service business.
- Clear written and verbal communication with customers, teammates, and operations partners.
- Strong organization and a habit of noticing small issues before they become larger ones.
- Ability to support the operating schedule of a daycare and boarding business, including weekend and holiday needs.
Helpful experience
Experience in dog daycare or boarding, staff development, a multi-location business, or a franchise environment is welcome. We value practical leadership and a willingness to learn as much as a particular industry background.
The kind of GM who fits here
You care about the dogs, the people doing the work, and the families who trust us. You take responsibility without waiting to be asked. You can keep standards consistent while respecting the personality of an individual brand. You are direct, fair, and dependable.
